Richard's Artwork

Richard Murrin has been a contemporary realist artist specialising in figurative and astronomical artwork for now more than forty years, principally interested visually in all that is perceived as magic.

Originally an abstract painter, he considered he lacked the self-discipline and skill required for photo realist paintings, he proved otherwise remarkably quickly, producing work which is unique, imaginative, witty and highly finished.

Born in Bromley, Kent in 1948, he originally lived in Bickley, then London and Wales. He now currently resides in Eynsford, Kent, where he has lived since 1987.

He attended Hammersmith & Camberwell colleges of art in the 1960s, has a Fine Art degree and is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.

Extensively travelled, he has produced illustrations for newspapers, books & magazines, made digital illustrations for various media, been a guest lecturer in Art and Astronomy and exhibited paintings and prints internationally. He regularly participated in group shows from 2014 -2019 at the Strand & Menier Galleries in London.

He now undertakes that which he finds enjoyable and fulfilling, usually selective commissions for traditional paintings, mostly portraits, nudes, and landscapes, but also he has developed a quirky interest in creating original digital art.
